We're looking to fill the position of Program Manager & Coordinator, to begin immediately.

Job Description:

The Program Manager & Coordinator will serve as the main staff person responsible for the Jewish Activism Summer School (www.jewishactivism.org or www.facebook.com/jassberlin).  Working directly under and with the project’s founder and Director, Prof. Jonathan Schorsch, the Program Manager & Coordinator will supervise and work with the team of part-time staff of Prof. Schorsch’s Chair (Jüdische Religions- und Geistesgeschichte/Jewish Religious and Intellectual History) that runs the Summer School.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the general planning and organization of the summer school

• Supervising and working alongside assistants and other staff

• Coordinating and helping prepare publicity and recruitment, i. e., outreach, website (we have a web designer with whom we work), brochures, advertising, social media (for instance, maintaining our Facebook page), and application forms for students

• Helping research potential funders and organize fundraising efforts

• Liaising with Berlin and pan-European partner organizations, as well as partner programs and departments within the Universität Potsdam

• Helping coordinate logistics for program participants and faculty

• Helping organize college accreditation

• Helping organize program schedule and logistics

• Helping liaise with summer school faculty

Job requirements:

• working knowledge of German and English

• basic office skills (MS Word, Excel, Google docs, google form)

• working knowledge of photoshop or other graphic design applications and mailchimp is a plus

• familiarity with and connectedness to the Jewish communities of Berlin, Europe and the United States; and Judaism in general

• teamwork and good communication and people skills

• the ability to work closely with the Director yet independently on assignments

• the capacity to take initiative

• creative problem-solving

• Good at delegating to other staff members

• Good attention to detail as well as the ability to oversee the whole project at hand

• Must possess EU Citizenship

• Must possess a BA degree or higher

 

Location: Berlin

 

Salary: For now JASS has funding to provide a salary of 15 €/hour for 15 hours/week, without benefits.  During the 3 weeks of the summer program (29.7 - 18.8.2019) the number of hours required will increase to full time plus overtime (at the same rate).  JASS is currently seeking enough money to turn this position into a permanent full-time position with benefits.
