Jewish Activism Weekend
The final weekend of our 3-week summer school (usually mid-August) turns into a Jewish Activism Weekend that is open to everyone: the Jewish community of Berlin, the general public, and activists from across the world.
Thursday evening begins with a welcome event and dinner. Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning feature multiple simultaneous sessions, workshops, and panel discussions. The first morning sessions consist of prayers, meditation, yoga or the like. Evenings include keynote talks, films, arts presentations or music. The program ends early Sunday afternoon.
We welcome proposals for sessions.
At the organization fair on Friday afternoon, interested groups can set up a table or booth for their organization, so that attendees can learn about new groups, organizations can share information and participants can network. We welcome suitable organizations, Jewish and non-Jewish, to get in touch with us to see whether their participation at the fair makes sense.
The weekend is designed to enable JASS to serve a much wider community than those who can attend the intensive, 3-week program, to serve the Berlin Jewish and general community, and offer European Jews (and non-Jews) a timely, stimulating and unique equivalent of the democracy festivals held in Scandinavian and Baltic countries.
